Starý Mateřov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

A wooden bell tower with a cross combines an unusual architectural form with an established place in the local history: the small, slender polygonal structure, shaped like a truncated pyramid, is topped with an onion-shaped sheet-metal roof. It is listed as a cultural monument under registration number ÚSKP 15360/6-2154 and has been protected since 3 May 1958.

Culture and History

The traditional wooden cross is also one of the historical testimonies of Mateřov. It is a folk-style crucifix dating from the early 19th century; the body of Christ has not survived. The first written mention of Mateřov is found in a deed of donation from 1227. At the beginning of the 15th century, Mateřov was the ancestral seat of the Vladyks of Máteřov. The fortress of Mateřov stood on the plot of house no. 1.

Leisure Activities

The multifunctional sports field is used for tennis, nohejbal, volleyball, and football. Reservation in the booking system is required for access. A cycle path to Pardubice–Popkovice was built in 2017.

The Mateřov pond is used for recreational fishing and, in winter, for ice skating and playing hockey.
