Břehy: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

A direct connection to the landscape is provided by the KČT route K Černému Nadýmači: from Břehy, it is signposted as a red, 7-kilometre wheelchair route.

Nature and trails

Černý Nadýmač is an important site for the fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina), with a population of several thousand animals. The pond is bordered by wet alder forests and wet acidophilous oak forests. The highly endangered plant species Coleanthus subtilis also grows on exposed pond beds in the area.

In the Výrov district of Břehy, there is a car park between a restaurant and an industrial mill, from which excursions to Černý Nadýmač pond can begin. Another route is provided by the educational trail around Buňkov pond: it was created in 2015 and leads around the entire pond. The trail can be cycled, but walking is more suitable.

In the immediate vicinity of Břehy are Nadýmač, a hill, and Křemen (Mokošín), also a hill. In the wider regional surroundings of Břehy are Krkanka, a mountain, and Bučina, a mountain.

Water and local history

The Sopřečský water canal is part of the Opatovice Canal water network. It was completed by Vilém z Pernštejna in 1513. The hydroelectric plant established at Výrovský mlýn in 1914 is still operational; the restored Výrovský mlýn serves as a cultural, sports and social centre of Břehy.

The monument to the victims of the First and Second World Wars in Břehy was unveiled on 17 October 1920 and still stands near Březinka today.
