Raná U Hlinska: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Raná lies at an elevation of 485 m on the Raná stream, which was also known as Černý potok and Dolský potok.

History and culture

The first written mention of Raná dates back to 1349; at that time, the village was part of the Rychmburk estate. The historic settlement pattern was shaped by large timber-framed and later masonry farmsteads along the road. In the Oldřetice district, larger enclosed agricultural farmsteads have been preserved along the stream. Three water-powered grain mills and a sawmill once operated on the Raná stream.

The Church of St. James the Elder stands on a slight hill in the central part of Raná. The church was originally Gothic and is documented as early as 1350; it was redesigned in the Baroque style in 1718 and later acquired its Neo-Gothic appearance. The complex includes an enclosure wall around the cemetery, a mortuary chapel from the early 18th century, and a masonry bell tower dating from 1835. Original historic murals were discovered inside the church.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary on the village square dates from 1894.

Landscape and trails

Raná and the districts of Oldřetice and Medkovy Kopce lie in an unspoiled landscape that gives them a special atmosphere. Cycle routes No. 18 and 4122 run through the municipality of Raná along Class III roads.

Local life

Raná has an open-air classroom at a one-class primary school for the first stage of primary education, with school-based childcare. The Roman Catholic parish of Raná regularly holds services on Sundays at 9:30 a.m. and on Fridays at 6:00 p.m.
