Horní Bradlo: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

A distinctive landmark of Horní Bradlo is the filial Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It was built in the Neo-Gothic style from 1892 to 1894 and contains the family crypt of the Rükl family. Its slender windows and eastern rose window contain stained glass. The chapel is a cultural monument and a distinctive landmark of Horní Bradlo.

Nature and Landscape

Horní Bradlo is located in the Železné hory Protected Landscape Area. The cadastral territory of the village also contains the Polom Nature Reserve, which is also known as the Polom primeval forest. The name Horní Bradlo derives from an independent rock or rocky cliff, referred to in geology as a bradlo.

Mount Bučina is located in the surroundings of Horní Bradlo. The hill (U Rozkuska) [Rušinov-Vratkov] and Spálava Hill are located in the immediate vicinity of the village. The Church of Saint George and Mount Krkanka are located in the wider regional surroundings of Horní Bradlo.

Hiking

The central Via Czechia hiking trail passes through Horní Bradlo. There is a shelter, a restaurant, a grocery store and a bus connection there. The green-marked hiking route that previously ran through the Polom Nature Reserve was relocated outside the protected area in May 2023 for the safety of hikers.

History and Exhibitions

The former glassworks in Horní Bradlo was named Vilemínina huť in honor of Princess Vilemí­na Auerspergová. Guided tours for schools, kindergartens, groups and families are offered on the premises of the former glassworks. Vánoční Království in Horní Bradlo features an exhibition of rocking horses and retro toys.
