Bítovany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Bítovany, the Farář pond is part of the nature monument of the same name in the cadastral area of the village. Its shoreline provides nesting sites for many species of waterfowl. The pond is also the only known site in the Pardubický Region where the endangered aquatic plant floating hornwort occurs.

Nature

Bítovany lies in the central part of the Železné hory National Geopark, near its northern boundary. The Farář Nature Monument also includes the Na Syslích rock outcrop. It is suitable for conveying and popularising geological phenomena and is easily accessible.

At the southern edge of Bítovany, before the turn-off to Horní Mlýn and opposite the football pitch, there is an information board about the geotope. Bítovany Stonehenge is a resting place beside Farář pond and a destination for excursions by locals and tourists.

Culture

Bítovany is home to the filial church of the Apostle St Bartholomew. The side altar of Our Lady Help contains a painted copy of Cranach’s depiction of the Madonna of Passau. A small second altar is dedicated to St John of Nepomuk and decorated with unusual Baroque sculptures of miners.

Experiences

Dřevěná Exotika na ranči Bítovany enables children to have direct contact with goats, kids and miniature sheep. By individual arrangement, Dřevěná Exotika organises programmes for kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, and similar institutions.
