The local history of Horní Ředice includes the present-day Church of St. Wenceslas: it was consecrated on September 28, 1863, and served both Horní Ředice and Dolní Ředice. Both municipalities contributed equally to its construction.
Culture and History
Together with the wooden bell tower, the church dominates the surrounding area. The cemetery by the church includes a wooden bell tower with three bells; the largest dates from 1616. Remains of the former fortification of the churchyard are visible on the west side.
The chapel in Horní Ředice also bears witness to the history of the village. It dates from 1836 and was reconstructed in 2003 by the Lubomír Váša restoration studio. The Ředice archaeological burial site contains finds dating to the Bronze Age.
Nature and Landscape
Hořaník, the eastern peak of the Hořánka hill, is 265 m high and offers views of the Loučná valley and as far as the Železné hory mountains. A field path leads from the Church of St. Wenceslas via Farský kopec to the Hořánka hill.
The Žernov Nature Reserve lies north of Horní Ředice in the nearby area. It includes ponds, reed beds, and wet meadows.
Sports and Leisure
Horní Ředice has two clay tennis courts, where tennis tournaments and a summer tennis school are regularly held. The reconstructed minigolf course near the community hall has 13 holes and is located by a stream with seating areas.
The multi-purpose sports field by the primary school can be used for floorball, nohejbal, tennis, volleyball, and many other ball sports. In the Blanka area, there is a 180 m long running track and a 60 m long straight track with a long-jump facility. At the embankment of Ředický rybník, there are two exercise machines and seating for walkers.
