Šedivec is a small mountain village on a hill rising from the valley of the Tichá Orlice. The hill near Šedivec slopes down towards the Divoká Orlice and the Nekořský potok.

Nature and Trails

The Bažantnice–Obora educational trail provides information about the history and present of forest management, historical connections and the area’s natural features. Near Šedivec–Obora, it ends at a former forester’s cottage.

The end of the Bažantnice–Obora educational trail near Šedivec is served by buses; alternatively, it is possible to return to Letohrad. A blue-marked hiking trail runs from Letohrad through Šedivec to Nekoř.

Cycle route 4074 is signposted with white band markings and leads to Šedivec after crossing road I/11.

Culture and History

The first written mention of Šedivec dates from 1539. At the foot of the hill above Šedivec stands the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary; its construction was completed in 1898.

The Vysoký Kámen mountain, Suchý vrch mountain, Velká Suchá mountain and Buková hora mountain are located in the vicinity of Šedivec. The Nový Hrad ruins lie in the wider regional surroundings of Šedivec.
