Uhřičice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The historic surroundings of Uhřičice were designated a heritage zone with effect from 31 December 2019.

History and Townscape

Uhřičice was first mentioned in writing in 1131. The historic centre features a broad linear settlement structure, known as an “ulicovka”.

The village square is home to a group of statues depicting Saint Florian. The work dates from 1742 and is considered a valuable Baroque work by the Olomouc sculptor Antonín Heinz. Another Baroque monument can be found on the road to Kojetín: a wayside shrine depicting Saint Florian and the Baptism of Jesus.

Water Landscape

The landscape around Uhřičice includes the Morava and Valová rivers, the Boleloucký mill race, and the Strž, a wooded side arm of the Bečva. It also features a flooded former sand quarry, the Čvachůvka woodland with a spring, and intensively farmed arable land.

The Uhřičický Siphon is a technical structure where the Boleloucký mill race passes beneath the Valová River. From Uhřičice, it can be reached directly via a yellow-marked hiking trail; cyclists can take cycle route 5040, which connects Tovačov and Kojetín.

Another water crossing on the Boleloucký mill race is the Vantroky aqueduct in the cadastral area of the municipality of Uhřičice. It is located approximately 800 metres south of the Uhřičický Siphon. The aqueduct’s current concrete bed dates from 1923.

Trails and Excursions

The excursion route “Along the banks of the Morava to Kojetín and beyond…” includes a stop at the Uhřičický Siphon.

Railways and Events

The Kojetín–Tovačov railway line currently carries freight trains only. Uhřičice participates in the Hanácké léto na kolejích project. As part of this project, historic trains run on the Tovačov railway line to promote tourism and provide transport support for cultural and social events in the towns along the line.
