History
The presumed medieval settlement area of Rakov is documented. During the reconstruction of the road between Rakov and Býškovice in 1935–1936, prehistoric remains were discovered when the Brána hill was cut through.

Rakov is one of nine municipalities in the Záhoran microregion. Its cycle route “Through the Land of Wayside Shrines and Memorial Trees” is approximately 33 kilometres long and has 12 rest areas and 23 information boards. In addition, cycle path 5253 connects Všechovice, Horní Újezd, Býškovice, Rakov, Paršovice, Valšovice and Rybáře, a district of Hranice.

Events
The Municipality of Rakov invited families with children to a “Holiday Afternoon” on 15 August 2026 from 3:00 p.m. at the outdoor recreation area in Rakov. The Opatovice–Rakov Hunting Association held sports shooting competitions, as it does every year.
