The Sobotín Circuit is a 17 km tourist route with 14 information-board stops; benches are provided at some stops. The information boards provide interesting facts about the local history, present-day life, and the area's flora and fauna.

Hiking, Nature and Trails

Maps for the Sobotín Circuit are available at four points along the route: in front of the Permoník Motorest, in front of the Ztracenka Motorest, in Rudoltice near house number 133, and at the Klein family mausoleum. They are also distributed by the Sobotín Municipal Office.

One stop on the circuit is located about 100 m from the Smrčina Natural Monument. The lesser horseshoe bat spends the winter there in a local adit. The forest section of the Sobotín Circuit is home to the lesser butterfly orchid and the protected martagon lily.

The hills above Sobotín offer views of the Hrubý Jeseník panorama. Traťovka is a junction of hiking, cycling, and winter cross-country skiing routes.

History and Culture

The Church of St. Lawrence was built in 1605 on the site of a former Protestant house of prayer; an incident there was connected with the witch trials, which claimed the lives of hundreds more people.

Sobotín Castle was built on the site of an old iron forge. During its reconstruction in the 1840s, it was given a Romantic historicist design; it was surrounded by a castle park, an ornamental pond, and several small park buildings.

The tradition of iron production in Sobotín dates back to the early 17th century and included bloomery furnaces, iron forges, and foundries. At its peak in 1852–1853, Sobotín became a centre of the Austrian iron industry; the operation, with a branch in Štěpánov near Olomouc, employed 2,000 workers.

Further Trails and Nature Observation

Access points to the Mineralogical Educational Trail include Sobotín railway station, the Vernířovice Municipal Office with the car park by the church, and the Sobotín Resort with the car park by the Permoník Motorest.

Sobotín has a rescue station for native crayfish, where crayfish conservation can be promoted through training sessions, excursions, and educational activities for the public.
