Chromeč: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Chromeč lies in a fertile plain on the right bank of the Morava River. A marked cycling route runs through the village, while the Račice municipal forest stretches across the slopes of the Zábřežská vrchovina.

Around Chromeč are Hrad Brníčko Castle, Obora Hill, Skalka Hill and Bouda Hill. In the wider region are the ruins of Nový Hrad and Cukrová Bouda Hill.

Culture and History

The memorial cross for the victims of the First World War in Chromeč was made in 1923 by the V. Spurný stonemasonry company from Litovel. The municipality of Chromeč had the cross restored in 2024. The work included, among other things, cleaning, completing and securing the damaged crucifix, renewing the inscription and applying a final protective coating. The cross at the “U Blaťáka” crossroads in Chromeč was also restored in 2023.

Chromeč is also associated with Josef Drásal, the man known as the “Haná Giant”: he was born here on 4 July 1841. The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk is documented as early as 1771; the year it was built is unknown. A new Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk was built in Chromeč in 1862 and burned down in the great fire of Chromeč on 19 September 1869.

Events

The traditional “Boroviny” event is held by the “U Obra Drásala” inn in Chromeč.
