Landscape and Geographical Location

Větřkovice lie in the hilly Vítkovská vrchovina, which forms part of the Nízký Jeseník range. The northern tip of the cadastral area of Větřkovice extends into the valley of the Moravice River.

History and Monuments

The settlement is referred to as Dyttreichsdorph or Dětřichovice in the founding charter of 1298. Local monuments include the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Větřkovice, which is listed as an immovable cultural monument.

A chapel with a vaulted ceiling at the crossroads between Větřkovice and the village of Nové Vrbno is listed as an immovable cultural monument. In front of the church in Větřkovice, there is also a Marian column listed as an immovable cultural monument.

Cycling Routes Through the Region

The challenging 60 km Nízký Jeseník I circular cycling route passes through Hradec nad Moravicí, Podhradí, Vítkov, Větřkovice and Moravské Vlkovice. The Hradecký zámek cycling route combines off-road cycling with cycling on roads.

Events and Local Cuisine

The Větřkovská traktoriáda is a traditional competition featuring self-built tractors. Visitors can enjoy an accompanying programme, as well as traditionally extensive refreshments and culinary specialities.

The Slavnosti Větřkovského karmaše will take place from 11 to 13 September 2026. In addition, the municipality of Větřkovice invited people to the first edition of the event “Sliváci vaří zelňačku”.
