Svetla Hora: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Světlá Hora lies in the foothills of the Hrubý Jeseník at an elevation of 595 metres above sea level. The boundaries of the Jeseníky Protected Landscape Area run through the village. The surrounding area of Světlá Hora offers opportunities for downhill skiing.

History and Culture

Světlá Hora was first mentioned in writing in 1267. The history of the village includes the Church of Saint Barbara and Saint Catherine, built in 1798. The church is an oriented single-nave late Baroque masonry building with a semicircular apse and an attached sacristy. In Světlá Hora, the church is also a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

Traces of the region’s mining history have also been preserved in Suchá Rudná: there are above-ground and underground remains of medieval gold mining. Gold panning and mining took place there as early as around the transition from the 1220s to the 1230s of the 13th century.

Local Products

Farma U Stromovouse welcomes visitors at Stará Voda 114 in Světlá Hora. The farm produces cheese and other dairy products from the milk of its own animals.

Community Life

Amateur theatre is just as much a part of community life in Světlá Hora as traditional cultural events.

Traffic: Road II/452 is completely closed from 11 August to 20 December 2026 on the Světlá Hora (Světlá)–Karlovice section.
