Jindřichov ve Slezsku: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Jindřichov ve Slezsku lies in a valley framed to the northwest by the 466-metre-high Rochova hora and Karlova hora, and to the east by the 704-metre-high Pěnkavčí hora. These elevations offer beautiful views of the valley.

Culture and History

Jindřichov Castle was built by the Hodic of Hodice family in the second half of the 17th century. Following its reconstruction after a fire in 1844, it acquired its present Empire-style appearance. The first floor houses the Small Jindřichov Museum, with photographs and objects relating to Jindřichov’s pre-war and post-war history, the local castle and brewery, and the everyday life of the local population. A tour route through the castle includes, among other things, the Knights’ Hall, the library, an exhibition of historical toys and the Small Jindřichov Museum.

A brewery was established in Jindřichov in 1589, making it one of the very first breweries in Moravia. Today’s Church of St Nicholas was designed after the model of a Roman basilica and is documented in archival sources for the year 1672. It is a three-nave church with a prismatic tower, surrounded by a wall with Baroque statues of Saint John of Nepomuk and Saint Florian.

The village district of Arnultovice is home to a recently restored masonry chapel of the Virgin Mary. It also has a listed rural house from the 18th century and a free-standing, timber-clad barn from the 19th century; both structures are protected heritage monuments. The Swedish Chapel near Jindřichov is an example of high-quality folk architecture from the last quarter of the 19th century. It is located north of Jindřichov on pastureland near the Polish border.

Near the main entrance to the Jindřichov castle grounds on the main road stands a monumental Baroque Marian column with additional statues of saints dating from 1757. The Marian ensemble is an artistically valuable protected heritage complex.

Landscape and Trails

Jindřichov Castle Park contains a listed castle belvedere from the first half of the 19th century. The castle park is open to the public from May to September.

A blue-marked hiking trail leads from Svinný potok via the trail points Svinný potok, hájovna and Svinný potok, rozc. to the bridge in Jindřichov. The green-marked hiking route no. 4810 runs from U obrázku via Svinný potok, hájovna to the Kraví hora turn-off. The U Studánky rest area is a popular destination for walks by local residents and visitors to the municipality at any time of year.

Cycling and Rail Connections

Jindřichov ve Slezsku railway station is located on the single-track railway line no. 292 from Krnov to Šumperk. The Jindřichov–Prudnik cycle route starts at the local castle and passes the old Jindřichov Pivovar on its way to the border. The cross-border Prudnik–Jindřichov cycle route is signposted and has rest areas as well as appropriate tourist information boards.
