Hať lies in a gentle valley on the Bečva stream at the foot of the Hlučínská pahorkatina. The landscape of the locality can therefore be precisely characterised by the valley, the stream and the foot of the Hlučínská pahorkatina.

History and Culture

The history of Hať dates back to a first mention with a precisely recorded date: Hať was first mentioned in a papal document issued in Lyon on 18 December 1250. The Church of Saint Matthew was built by the Jesuit College in Opava. The building is a Baroque-style church constructed of stone and well-fired bricks; based on a year carved behind the main altar, its construction is dated to 1731. The year behind the main altar links the dating to a specific detail in the church interior. The church also contains a Way of the Cross with 14 stations.

Local tradition also includes the titles recorded in the Hlučínsko Collection of Folk Songs. Under Hať, the collection lists four songs: “Tam za horami”, “Na huře”, “U sušeda sum falešne okna” and “Něvědělch cestečky”. Thus, alongside the church building, linguistically and musically transmitted names from the locality are also associated with Hať. The four titles mentioned are listed together under Hať and, in addition to the architectural information, preserve distinct names from local tradition.

Routes and Event

A yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Ostrava-Petřkovice via Koblov and Šilheřovice to Hať. From Hať, the yellow-marked hiking trail continues via Závada to the forester’s hut near Bohuslavice. The route thus names several places in a continuous sequence and describes Hať both as the destination of the section from Ostrava-Petřkovice and as the starting point for the continuation.

A dedicated event is associated with the Kulíškova desítka. It is a charity run. The programme on 26 September 2026 in Hať also includes a family-friendly walking route for enjoying the surrounding landscape.
