Since the end of the 17th century, Nový Bor has been closely associated with glass. The town lies in the foothills of the Lusatian Mountains (Lužické hory).
Glass and Townscape
At the Novotný Glass Museum, visitors can watch glassmaking masters at work. The collection comprises more than 300 works of art, including the largest collection of glass by Bořek Šípek.
The LASVIT – Skleněný Dům complex comprises two historic wooden houses that already served glassmakers at the end of the 18th century. On every Friday that is a working day, guided tours take place at LASVIT – Skleněný Dům at 9:00, 10:00, 13:00 and 14:00; they can be booked online.
On náměstí Míru stands the late Baroque Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary with rare Rococo organs. Nový Bor Town Hall is listed as a cultural monument in the Central Register of Immovable Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic and is the most important landmark on náměstí Míru.
Landscape and Trails
Nový Bor’s location in the foothills of the Lusatian Mountains (Lužické hory) offers opportunities for summer and winter tourism. The excursion to Klíč begins in Nový Bor and follows the red-marked hiking trail.
The Nový Bor Tourist Information Centre provides information about bus and train connections.
