Johannesberg I. Jizera Mountains features specific viewpoints, churches and activities. The stone Královka lookout tower is 23.5 metres high. Its summit is reached via 102 steps; from there, the view extends over the Jizerské hory, the Krkonoše Mountains, Český ráj, the Ještědský hřbet and Jablonec nad Nisou.
Culture
In Janov nad Nisou, the Kostel svatého Jana Křtitele church was built from 1800 to 1811 according to plans by the Liberec architect Würfl. Its interior features neo-Renaissance decoration from 1883 by E. Meininger. During Noc kostelů, the church is opened to the public in June with an accompanying programme.
The Kostel svatého Josefa v Loučné church was built in 1914 and 1915 according to plans by the Jablonec architect Robert Hemmrich. It has six stained-glass windows with neo-Renaissance ornamental frames. The Křížová cesta, built in 1878 on the grounds of Josef Klamt and consecrated in 1903, is also part of the local cultural history.
The Janovský jarmark takes place every year in June and combines traditional food with handicraft goods.
Landscape
Trniště is a rocky viewpoint with a viewing platform fitted with a railing. Skalní hřib is a granite rock formation above Loučná, to the left of the road to Jindřichov.
Activities
At Janovských 11 a 19 km, participants can choose between an 11-kilometre running route and a 19-kilometre hiking march. The event takes place on the last Saturday in October each year. Janov nad Nisou is suitable as a starting point for hikes in the Jizerské hory mountains.
A special feature of the bobsleigh track in Janov nad Nisou is a carousel in which the bobsleigh rotates 450 degrees. The bobsleighs on the track are equipped with rubber wheels, making them safe and easy to operate, so even small children can use them.
Hrabětice in Janov nad Nisou is an access point to the Jizerská magistrála and has a car park for 110 vehicles. From Janov nad Nisou, you can access the Jizerská magistrála cross-country ski trail in Hrabětice. The Severák ski area is available there for alpine skiing.
