The name “Kohlhau” historically refers to a clearing made by charcoal burners. The first mention of Kolová dates back to 1622.
History and culture
The Kolovská kaplička, the Chapel of Saint Anne, was built in 1873 by Neuerer, a local resident. In 1930, it was rebuilt, repaired and extended; at the same time, the altar was restored with a painting of Saint Anne. From 1930 onwards, masses were celebrated and pilgrimages held on the feast day of Saint Anne. The municipality repaired the chapel in 1996, and it was consecrated again in October 2005. The grounds of the Chapel of Saint Anne are accessible to visitors.
Between the chapel and the school lies a landscaped park with a wooden pavilion and several benches. Kolová’s community programme also includes an event to bid farewell to summer. It also includes a school Advent carol service with a fair.
