Engelhaus: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The extensive ruins of Engelsburg give Engelhaus a distinctive historic character: the Gothic castle, built in the second half of the 14th century, stands on a distinctive, isolated rocky promontory above Andělská Hora.

Culture and History

On the square in the center of Andělská Hora, below the castle ruins, stands the Church of St. Michael the Archangel. The originally Late Gothic parish church was built from 1487 to 1490 and is accessible during religious services.

Another defining building is the Church of the Holy Trinity. The unique, triangular early Baroque pilgrimage church was built from 1698 to 1712 according to a design by the renowned Italian architect Giovanni Battista Alliprandi. Before 1842, it was converted into a cemetery church. A spring rises below the church, whose water was believed to be life-giving.

The cultural calendar in Andělská Hora also includes the annual celebrations in honor of Princess Alvína.

Nature and Trails

The administrative territory of Andělská Hora lies in the northeastern part of the Slavkovský les at an elevation of about 600 meters above sea level. The Andělská Hora–Kyselka educational trail focuses on nature, geology, and history.

Access and Getting There

The ruins of Engelsburg are freely accessible all year round. An intercity bus runs from Dolní nádraží to the municipality of Andělská Hora.
