Štědrá is surrounded by forests and numerous ponds. This landscape also characterises the area around the village, which is particularly suitable for cycling tourism.

Culture and history

Near Štědrá, the small Gothic castle of Štědrý Hrádek once stood on a rugged rocky spur above the Borecký stream, with two moats. It was probably founded in the mid-14th century.

The Gothic fortress of Štědrá was founded on the slope in the eastern part of the village no later than the beginning of the 13th century. Extensive remains of the fortifications have survived from the former fortress to this day.

In the western part of Štědrá, the Baroque Štědrá château was built between 1730 and 1734 by Count Ferdinand Jakub Kokořovec z Kokořova, possibly according to a design by the architect Tomáš Haffenecker. After a fire in 1744, the château was restored and extended in the late Baroque style. It is occasionally open to the public during cultural events.

West of the village square, in the upper part of the municipality, stands the originally Gothic parish Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, built in the first third of the 14th century. After a fire in 1680, it was rebuilt and extended in the Baroque style; its exterior façades and windows were renovated in 1718. After 1995, the church was completely reconstructed and is occasionally open to visitors.
