Chiesch: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Chyše Castle tells its story through several architectural layers: a Gothic castle evolved into Renaissance and Baroque forms before the complex was remodelled in the English Gothic style in the mid-19th century.
Culture and history
During guided tours of the castle, you can see representative and private interiors, including Baroque halls, the library, Karel Čapek’s room and a collection of hunting trophies. The castle also contains a particularly valuable ceiling oil painting from 1699 by Petr Brandl.
The former Carmelite monastery is also part of the historic townscape and has been protected as a cultural monument since 3 May 1958. The former monastery of the Discalced Carmelites is a four-wing, two-storey early Baroque building. The complex is arranged around a rectangular monastery garden with a cloister.
Culinary experiences
The Chyše Castle Brewery was built between 1839 and 1841. Visitors can take part in a brewery tour with beer tasting and explanations of the brewery’s history by prior arrangement. The tour also includes a visit to a 10-hectolitre brewing system and the technological areas, including the fermentation and storage cellars.
Chyše beer is brewed according to old Bohemian recipes. Czech and Moravian malts, Saaz hops and spring water from the Doupov Mountains are used.
Sacred buildings
Two rare bells dating from 1520 and 1572 hang in one of Chyše’s church towers. The Church of the Annunciation is a single-nave, east-facing building with a semicircular termination. It adjoins the western building of the castle’s outer bailey or forecourt directly.

National Cycle Route No. 35 runs through Chyše along the Valeč–Chyše–Žlutice–Manětín section.
