Schaben is situated in a bend of the river on the valley floor and extends up steeply structured slopes.

Culture

The Šabina Fortress is a two-storey, rectangular building. The originally Gothic fortress was converted in the Renaissance style under Stolz von Simbsdorf; his coat of arms is located on the façade. In the 19th century, the fortress served as a school until 1891, then as a poorhouse and later as a warehouse. Its location is classified in the Czech state archaeological register as a significant archaeological site in category ÚAN I.

St. Anne’s Chapel is a four-sided building with an adjoining well. It was built in 2001 as a replica of the original chapel, which was demolished in 1960 during road expansion. Historic House No. 9 is a residential building constructed using log-building techniques, with a half-timbered gable and a brick-built stable; it is a typical example of local vernacular architecture from the late 18th century.

Landscape

There are four mountains in the vicinity of Šabina: Lobezský vrch, Chrudim, Špičák and Lysina.

South of Šabina lies the restored Šabinská kyselka spring. It is a drinkable mineral water spring with a pleasantly tart and refreshing taste. It can be reached by bicycle via a path, although this requires some effort.
