In Lomnice, cycle route 2044 runs through the village and over the Lomnická spoil heap. It is classified as difficult and is suitable for trekking and cross bikes.

Culture and History

The mining colony of Lomnice consists of houses with mansard roofs arranged in a horseshoe shape around a central courtyard. It was built in 1921 for the miners of the Köstner mine, which was later called Jiří.

The Church of St. Giles in Lomnice dates back to the 13th century and combines Gothic, Renaissance and Empire styles. Its preserved roof structure consists of three sections and is considered the oldest identified roof structure outside the city of Cheb and the Cheb region in the Karlovy Vary Region.

The Lomnice and Týn war memorial was ceremonially unveiled below the Church of St. Giles on 14 July 1920. In 1937, it was moved to a park in the village square in front of the old school building.

The Morový sloup is an early Baroque granite column remnant from 1681 whose upper section has been destroyed. It was erected in 1681 to commemorate the victims of the plague epidemic of 1633.

Nature

The Lomnické pinky south of Lomnice are shaped by collapses caused by deep mining and create diverse habitats with different microclimates.

Events and Sports

The traditional sv. Jiljí pilgrimage was announced in Lomnice for Saturday, 30 August 2025; a music programme, attractions, refreshments and a concluding fireworks display were planned.

Sport in Lomnice is organised under TJ Lomnice, with departments for football, bowling, table tennis and nohejbal.

Orientation

Road No. 210 connects Lomnice with the nearby E48, which leads from Cheb via Karlovy Vary and onward to Prague.
