Schönfeld: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Schönfeld combines water engineering, mining history, cultural monuments and protected landscapes. Dlouhá stoka is both an important technical monument and a national cultural monument.

Water engineering and mining

The 24-kilometre-long Dlouhá stoka water canal was built in 1536 to transport water and timber in support of mining. Today, cycle route 2135 approaches it and runs along the canal for several kilometres.

Culture and history

In Krásno, the Church of St Catherine of Alexandria and the former cemetery were declared cultural monuments in 2025. The present-day Church of St Catherine of Alexandria was built in 1858–1859 in the Neo-Romanesque style on the remains of a medieval church destroyed by fire. Its complex includes a medieval bell tower that is a cultural monument. To visit the church outside of services, contact the town of Krásno, the owner of the property.

Cycle route

Cycle route 2135 from Krásno is 38 kilometres long, has a moderate level of difficulty and is suitable for touring bikes and mountain bikes. It leads from Krásno via Prameny and Kladská to the edge of the Český les, where it connects to route 2137.

Natural environment

Krásenské rašeliniště is the most extensive raised bog in Slavkovský les. It lies in the first protection zone; unauthorised access is prohibited.

Slavkovský les features extensive peat bogs, species-rich wet and marsh meadows, unique serpentine flora, heathlands, numerous mineral springs and mofettes, preserved beech forests, and the valleys of the meandering Teplá and Ohře rivers with remarkable rock formations.

Mining and special structures

The Krásno Mining Museum is located on the grounds of the historic Vilém tin mine. The Krásno Mining Museum complex preserves a processing building, workshops, a headframe, a hoisting building, an engine house and a gatehouse. From May to October, visitors can ride a mine railway along a route through a model of a gallery.

South of Krásno, the Krásenská rozhledna, a 25-metre-high stone observation tower, stands on Krásenský vrch. It has an unusual external spiral staircase leading to its viewing platform and was built during the worldwide economic crisis in the 1930s.
