Malá Úpa and the surrounding area are home to ten peaks over 1,000 metres high. This mountain landscape combines hiking trails, architectural history and special places that give the area several distinct sides.

Culture

The Hornická Trail has 16 stations in Malá Úpa and three more along the route to the neighbouring Polish town of Kowary. In Malá Úpa, it leads past traces of ore mining, the entrance to an exploratory adit from the 1950s, and examples of Krkonoše rock types and rock formations.

The single-nave Church of St Peter and Paul was built between 1788 and 1799. After a fire in 1806, it was restored and remodelled.

The Pivovar Trautenberk brewery also has a historical connection to the area: it is housed in the former Tippeltova bouda, later known as Hotel Družba. Unpasteurised and unfiltered beer is brewed there. Tours of the brewing area are available.

Active pursuits

The SKiMU Malá Úpa ski resort consists of the two interconnected areas of Pomezky and U Kostela. Together, they offer more than 6 kilometres of blue and red ski slopes.

The KRNAP cycle route 24A, “Okolo Kraví hory”, follows forest roads in a loop from the church in Malá Úpa to stations 6 and 7 of the Pohádková cesta.

The Pohádková stezka has 10 stations. Each one offers something entertaining, a picture to trace and a fairy tale. A map of the Pohádková stezka is available at the information centre at Pomezní Boudy. The route can be shortened by skipping the section around Kraví hora or divided into several day stages.

Malá Úpa has four visitor car parks: P1 Sportcentrum is the largest car park, located directly at the Polish border. P2 Infocentrum is next to the information centre and is intended only for daytime parking until 11 p.m.; a special tariff applies there. P3 Zátiší is opposite the Lesní Zátiší restaurant. P4 Spálený Mlýn is located in Dolní Malá Úpa.
