Osečnice lies at the foot of the Orlické hory mountains, at the transition between the hilly forest and meadow landscape of the Orlické hory and the gently rolling agricultural landscape of Podorlicko.

Landscape and Village Character

Most of the cottages and farm buildings in Osečnice are scattered along a south-facing slope. A stream flows through the centre of Osečnice.

Culture

The Chapel of St John of Nepomuk in Osečnice was built in 1835. The Calvary complex in Osečnice was built in 1876, is characterised by Neo-Gothic and historicist styles, and was added to the list of cultural monuments in 1958.

The rural house with registration number ev. č. 17 is a predominantly wooden cottage with a simple gable, a pitched roof and a gallery, and is an example of the local folk architecture of the 19th century. It is a protected cultural monument.

Historical supplementary occupations in Osečnice included, in particular, weaving, net-making, Necování, embroidery on net fabric, woodworking, foundry work and Haluzačení. The “Osečnický sud” volleyball tournament is scheduled to take place in Osečnice in July.

Getting Around

Cycle route 4243 runs through Osečnice between Mýto, Proloh and Skuhrov nad Bělou. In the vicinity of Osečnice, at the Mýto viewing pavilion, 1.2 km along the road towards Lomy, there is a junction of hiking trails.
