Sedlonov: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Part of the municipality of Sedloňov lies within the Orlické hory Protected Landscape Area. The cadastral area also includes the Sedloňovský vrch Nature Reserve, and the first ski race in the Orlické Mountains took place in Sedloňov in February 1897.

Nature

The Sedloňovský vrch Nature Reserve is freely accessible to visitors, except for fenced areas. In spring, the spring snowflake can be found there. The Sedloňovská lípa is a protected tree in the town centre; it is estimated to be around 500 years old.

The European globeflower grows in the protected Ošerov natural locality. Propadliště is a protected locality encompassing the floodplain of the Zlatý potok watercourse. Polomské louky is a flower-rich, semi-natural meadow in the valley of the Polomský potok.

Hiking and cycling

Marked hiking trails lead to the Sedloňovský Černý kříž, a large wooden cross on the mountain ridge. Dozens of kilometres of marked hiking trails run through the area around Sedloňov; some are also suitable for cycling.

Culture and history

The Baroque Church of All Saints was completed in 1711 on the site of a wooden church dating from 1578. The Church of All Saints and the vicarage form a protected cultural monument ensemble.

The monument on Vrchmezí commemorates earlier visits by Emperor Joseph II, John Quincy Adams and Fryderyk Chopin. The Skutina artillery fortress in the Polom district houses an exhibition on military fortifications from the interwar period; visitors can descend up to 36 m into the structure.

The extensive alpine garden of the Grulich family in the lower part of Sedloňov, at the V depu site, can be visited by prior arrangement.
