Culture and History

Ohařice has been known since as early as 1376 and is mentioned in the land registers in 1542. Since the 16th century, Ohařice belonged to Veliš. The settlement was founded in an open landscape unprotected to the northwest.

The Chapel of the Holy Trinity is part of Ohařice’s history. It is located southwest of Ohařice at the cemetery on the road to Michalovy Hory. The Chapel of the Holy Trinity in Ohařice is registered as an immovable cultural monument.

Geographical Location

Road I/16 runs along a section between Samšina and Ohařice.

Dubolka provides a more precise description of the landscape southwest of the settlement: Dubolka is located 500 to 700 m southwest of Ohařice, in fields south of the Jičín–Sobotka road. The Dubolka locality is more than 250 m from the road; an accessible hiking trail leads there from the road.

Nature and Horse-Riding Trails

The protected features of Rybník Jíkavec include wet meadows around the pond with rare plants and animals.

Ohařice is part of a transregional horse-riding trail that begins in Vienna, Austria. Horse-riding tourism along this trail is considered a journey through nature with encounters with locals and other tourists. The regional horse-riding trails are intended to make it possible to visit historical monuments and other attractions in the region.
