Krchleby U Kostelce Nad Orlicí: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Krchleby lies in the valley of the Chlenský potok; the stream flows through the village and is a right-bank tributary of the Brodec. The built-up area lies at approximately 320 to 340 metres above sea level.

Nature and landscape

The Brumbárov district includes woodland, the Brodec stream and meadows. At the edge of the Brumbárov forest there is a woodland spring with refreshing water. The Vrbický potok flows north of Krchleby; northwest of the village, near Svídnice, there is also the Svídnická borovice memorial tree.

Tradition

In Brumbárov, the summer festivals are considered a modern local tradition.

Routes and surroundings

In the vicinity of Krchleby, Kostelec nad Orlicí is home to the Lípová stráň forest park with three signposted educational trails around the Divoká Orlice. Cycle route 4320 runs through Krchleby along a local road and continues from Krchleby into the forest. Road III/3166 continues towards Vrbice. Road II/316 connects Kostelec nad Orlicí and Choceň.

Culture and history

A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in Krchleby as a local cultural monument. It is a high-quality sculptural and stonework piece from 1699 and was moved from Vamberk to Krchleby in 1868.

According to tradition, the Krchleber family built a fortress called “Ovčín” on a trade route. The former Ovčín estate was originally a fortress built entirely of wood, burned down in 1908 and was not rebuilt.

The first Pavlův Kříž is located southwest of Brumbárov and is visible from the road.
