Homol, the pilgrimage complex in Lhoty u Potštejna, comprises two chapels and a staircase. Construction work on the pilgrimage site “Na Homoli” began in 1692 under the direction of Countess Terezie Eleonora z Ugarte, the owner of the Borovnice estate. The Church of Our Lady of Sorrows in Homol was founded in 1692 and consecrated in 1696. It is a single-nave early Baroque church with a tower. The ossuary of the Homol complex dates from 1778. In 2018, the Homol pilgrimage complex in Lhoty u Potštejna was declared a national cultural monument. The staircase leading to Homol has 153 steps and 16 landings. Homol lies between Borovnice and Lhoty u Potštejna.

Culture and history

Malá Lhota also has a historical monument: The cross is located near the village green, behind a fence on private property. It dates from around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Nature

Lhoty u Potštejna includes the Brodec, Hájecký potok, Lhotský potok and Prorubský potok waterways, as well as the Chmelnický rybník pond.

Trails

In 2010, a blue-marked route was established from the Pod Velešovem signpost location to Lhoty u Potštejna and the Homole or Homol pilgrimage site, and via Malá Lhota to Polom. The described route reaches Velká Lhota along a forest path through the valley of the Prorubský potok.
