Jílovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Jílovice combines a history-rich development with the character of a lowland municipality. Between its early written records, local club culture and traditional events, the municipality reveals itself in several distinct facets.

History

According to historian Josef Pohl-Doberský, Jílovice was founded in the 12th to 13th century. The earliest written mention dates from 1458. After the Orebite monastery was burned down in 1420, Jílovice initially came into the possession of the Lords of Opočno and later the Trčkas of Lípa.

Jílovice is a lowland municipality situated on two hills at an elevation of 268 metres above sea level.

Culture and Local Life

Hospoda Na Ohrádce serves homemade dishes and also hosts tasting evenings. The Na Ohrádce sports and events area is used for cultural, social, sporting and other public events. The rental package for this area includes a lawn, wooden benches, a fireplace with a grill and a smokehouse.

Tělovýchovná jednota Jílovice was founded on 12 February 1998 and takes part in cultural and social events in the municipality.

Events

The Floriánská jízda is traditionally held in the first half of May. It is an inspection and demonstration of firefighting equipment involving the volunteer fire brigades from Přepychy, Bolehošť, Očelice, Ledce and Jílovice. The Floriánská jízda ends in Jílovice; as part of the event, the fire units there were inspected during a firefighting attack.

At a witches' gathering in Jílovice, the children's programme included tasks involving broom flying, spider hunting, herbal knowledge, and smell and hearing tests.
