Dolní Olešnice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Culture and History
The Renaissance chateau Nový zámek was built in the third quarter of the 16th century by Hanibal von Valdštejn. The complex includes a fortification wall with a bastion, sculptures of the four elements, statues of Saint John of Nepomuk and Saint Florian, as well as a park.
The Church of St. James the Elder was built in 1559 in the cemetery above the settlement as a Late Gothic and Renaissance mixed-style building. It was rebuilt in 1589, extended with a tower in 1608, and supplemented with a porch on the northern side of the nave in 1629. The church retains an almost completely intact sgraffito decoration; it is considered the architect and master builder Valmadi’s first ecclesiastical building.
The Church of Lázně is located in the surroundings of Dolní Olešnice. The village also contains the stone wayside shrine Na Zadech, made of white sandstone with a deep niche and the year 1747. The Calvary in front of the cemetery entrance consists of three statues on a pedestal and is a Baroque work from 1797. At the former parish house, dating from 1787, by the local cemetery stands a protected small-leaved lime tree approximately 220 years old.
