Suchovrsice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Suchovršice lies in a narrow valley on both banks of the Úpa River. Fields and forests stretch across the slopes and uplands surrounding the village.

Culture

In the centre of the village, the wooden bell tower of Suchovršice stands on the hillside. It dates from 1730 and rings regularly at noon and in the evening. The municipality restored it in 1923: the wooden structure was reinforced, new cladding was added and shingles were laid, while its old-world character was preserved.

Suchovršice is also home to two historic wooden bridges. The covered wooden truss bridge is a technical monument and dates from 1922. The wooden footbridge was built in 1935.

At the “Zlatá jáma” site, traces remain that are associated with the alleged first gold mine in Central Europe. The Stříbrný důl is currently the only accessible evidence of medieval mining in the region; an application has been submitted for its inclusion in the central register of immovable cultural monuments.

Trails and landscape

In Suchovršice, the Úpa can be crossed by bridge at five locations. The village can be traversed by bicycle; in addition, a blue-marked section of cycle route 4090 runs through Suchovršice.

A nature trail leads from the footbridge near Lhotách to Zlatá jáma.
