Šaplava: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The first written mention of Šaplava dates back to 1381, and most of the historic buildings have been preserved. House No. 22 is considered a typical wooden residence in Šaplava.

History and Culture

The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Šaplava was erected in 1764 at the expense of the resident Jan Buček. It is registered as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic under object no. 101778. At that time, a wooden bell tower with a bell was erected next to the statue.

The “Ukřižování” crucifix statue was erected in 1794. Its front bears the inscription “Tato štatuje je pozdvižena pro čest a chválu Boží,” carved in Schwabacher script. The monument to the victims of the First World War was completely reconstructed in 2012.

Another historical destination lies in Nový Bydžov: the Old Jewish Cemetery is located approximately 11 km from Šaplava and was founded in 1520.

Nature and Cycling

The Králický Stream flows through Šaplava. The surrounding countryside is suitable for walks and mushroom picking. A cycle path also runs through the village; the cycling route through Šaplava is suitable for trekking or road bikes and runs along paved roads.

There is a refreshment stop for cyclists at the local sports field. It has a surfaced area measuring 9 × 6 metres and includes six benches and a cycling map.

Events

The Pouťový den took place in Šaplava on 6 July 2024 and on 11 July 2026; at the event on 11 July 2026, the programme for children included competitions, games and a bouncy castle. A second Silvestrovský výšlap took place in the vicinity of Šaplava on 31 December 2024.
