Bakov Nad Jizerou: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

On the outskirts of Bakov nad Jizerou, in the Podhradí area, are the ruins of Zvířetice Castle and Château. Zvířetice Castle was founded as a Gothic fortress in 1287 and converted into a Renaissance château in the 16th century.

Culture and history

Historical landmarks can also be found in the town centre: the Church of Saint Bartholomew in Bakov nad Jizerou dates from the late 16th century. A Trinity Column dating from 1729 stands in the square.

The Muzeum Bakovska presents local history and dedicates exhibitions to pottery, the history of Zvířetice and the composer Jiří Ignác Linek. The exhibits also include a collection of traditional woven items made from cattails, historical marionettes and a historical classroom.

Routes and leisure

The educational trail “Through the Klokočka Forest for Fun, Water and Birdsong” is co-maintained, among others, by the town of Bakov nad Jizerou. It runs for 3 km from the Řečkov railway crossing to the Chapel of St Procopius in Klokočka and includes wooden sculptures and games for children.

The VČAS leisure and camping area in Bakov nad Jizerou is open year-round and free of charge. It has an approximately 1 km-long inline skating track and a pump track, as well as children’s playgrounds, sports facilities and a natural body of water for swimming.

Nature and activities

Bakov nad Jizerou provides access to various cycling and hiking trails. The Jizera flows through Bakov nad Jizerou and the municipalities administered by the town, and is also of interest to anglers.
