Vlkaneč: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Church of Saint James the Elder in Vlkaneč is based on an early Gothic building dating from before or around 1300. It was extended in 1590–1592 and received a tower in 1706–1710. The protected area includes the church, its surrounding wall with a gate and wicket, as well as the plots of the area.

History

The Vlkaneč archaeological site also points to a long period of history: it is dated to the period from the Middle Ages to the modern era, as well as to the Late Middle Ages.

The Church of Saint Wenceslas in Přibyslavice dates from the late 13th century. Originally early Gothic, it was rebuilt in the Baroque style in 1802; it was probably built by the Teutonic Order.

Culture

The Church of All Saints is originally Gothic and dates from the first half of the 14th century. Its interior contains preserved wall paintings from around the middle of the 14th century. The protected area includes the church, the surrounding wall with a gate, and the associated plots of land.

The Church of All Saints stands in the centre of Kozohlody. In the wider regional surroundings of Vlkaneč, there is also Kačina Chateau.

Landscape

Near Vlkaneč lies Mount Ostojovka, also called Ledeč nad Sázavou-Souboř. In the immediate surroundings of Vlkaneč lies Mokřiny Hill, also called Bratčice u Potěh. In the wider regional surroundings of Vlkaneč lie Krkanka and Bučina, both mountains, as well as Orlík, a ruin. Tisá skála is a protected granite formation in the surrounding forests.

Community Life

Every year towards the end of summer, the municipality of Vlkaneč organises the harvest festival Slavnost dožínek for the local population.
