Větrušice lie high above the Vltava on its rocky right bank. Their elevated location offers views of the Vltava, the rocks and the municipality of Libčice on the opposite bank; in good visibility, the peaks of the České středohoří mountains can also be seen.

Nature

The Větrušické rokle National Nature Reserve lies between Větrušice and the Vltava. The area was first placed under protection on 17 April 1969. Fish, amphibians, reptiles and waterfowl live in the Vltava floodplain.

Landscape and Trails

At 287 metres above sea level, Velký vrch is the highest point in the cadastral area. The Vltava valley directly below lies at 170 metres above sea level. Červená skála is a viewpoint in the vicinity of Větrušice.

A path along the Vltava can be walked and, especially by bicycle, ridden only at your own risk. Drábovna Cave can be reached via a small path leading along the river from Řež. Its cavity is 9 metres long, an average of 3 metres wide and 3 metres high.

After being rerouted, the Via Czechia route “Stezka středozemím” runs above the Vltava Canyon through Větrušice in the Dolní Povltaví area.

History and the Village

The origins of Větrušice are attributed to the year 1306; the first written mention of the municipality dates from 1316. A statue of Saint Wenceslas still stands in the park on the village square in Větrušice.

Transport and Event

Větrušice is served by bus route 374 operated by ČSAD Střední Čechy as part of Prague’s Integrated Transport System. At the same time, Větrušice is a dead-end municipality; the only road into the village is Class III road no. 24219.

The “Haunted Trail” began at 5:30 p.m. on 7 November 2025 at the start of the path to Velký vrch. The event offered an adventure trail in the dark, spooky tasks for children and a small reward at the end.
