The spoil heap is the waste dump of the former Tuchlovice mine. From the summit, there are extensive views over the surrounding landscape. There is also a table and benches where you can rest or take a short break.

Landscape and nature

Rybník Salakvarda pond is located on a field path towards Lány and is fed by the Zámecký potok stream. The pond is especially popular with anglers and walkers; as municipal property, it is freely accessible to everyone. In the town centre is Tuchlovický Park, a large park with a peaceful place to sit or take a walk. It was completely renovated in 2021.

Záplavy is an important breeding area and resting place for waterbirds and wetland birds.

Cycling

The spoil heap is located directly beside the cycle path and can be reached on foot or by bicycle. The Cyklostezka Tuchlovice cycle path mostly follows the route of a former railway siding that served the Tuchlovice mine. The asphalt surface is also suitable for inline skating. The Cyklostezka is 6 kilometres long and forms part of cycle route 8185, which runs from Lány to Kamenné Žehrovice railway station. It can be accessed or joined by bicycle at several points.

Churches and history

The Chapel of St Florian was built in 1715 by the local landowner Jiří Náprstek. It is dedicated to Saint Florian because Tuchlovice was affected by a cattle epidemic in 1715. A pilgrimage tradition at the chapel has been documented since 1886.

The Church of St Havel is a single-nave building, originally Gothic, dating from around 1330. Only the presbytery with its rib vault remains from the medieval building. During the Baroque-style alterations in 1840–1844, a 27-metre-high tower was built above the entrance portal. The church’s present appearance dates from the renovation of 1890, when the sacristy was extended. A comprehensive renovation of the church began in 2001; it reopened in autumn 2002.

The cadastral area of the municipality of Tuchlovice contains the former JAROSLAV / NOSEK / TUCHLOVICE deep coal-mining complex. The Pustinka ventilation shaft complex belonging to the former Tuchlovice mine, also known as Na pustince, is located in the cadastral area of the municipality of Lány, immediately adjacent to Lánská obora. Its main building with the headframe is designated as a technical monument.

Festivals and water sports

The Tuchlovická pouť takes place every year in May in Tuchlovice’s square. The festival brings folk dancing, folk music and theatrical performances to Tuchlovice and is part of an annual folk programme.

Since 1962, Turyňský rybník has served as the base for Yacht Klub Kladno and the Kladno water sports club, which brings together people interested in regatta and offshore sailing. Sailing boat races are regularly held on Turyňský rybník.
