Páleč: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Páleč combines a stream with distinctive traces of its history: in the valley of the Pálečský potok are a church with medieval features, the remains of a former fortress, and a private collection of historic commercial vehicles.

Church and History

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Páleč was built between 1333 and 1338 under Jan IV z Dražic and was already a parish church by 1384. The single-nave church has a polygonal chancel and a west tower. The coat of arms of Bishop Jan IV z Dražic is carved above the side entrance; the sacristy contains an octagonal Gothic baptismal font made of pink opuka stone.

On the hill of Na hrádku, or Hrad, the remains and ramparts of the former Páleč fortress are still visible. Štěpán z Pálče is also connected with the history of the village: he was born at the stronghold in Velká Páleč at the end of the 1360s and became rector of the university in 1400.

Watercourse and Location

Páleč lies in the valley of the Pálečský potok stream. It rises at the western municipal boundary, flows eastwards through the municipality to Jarpice, and there joins the Vranský potok. The floodplain of the Pálečský potok features riverside vegetation. Páleč is also located at the intersection of two third-class roads.

Collection and Excursion Routes

Páleč is home to the Muzeum historických náklaďáků, a private collection of commercial vehicles belonging to the Slezák family. Personal visits to the vehicle collection can be arranged in advance via Facebook.

A local excursion route leads from Páleč via Vraný, Peruc and Vrbičany back to Páleč. Another leads from Páleč via Vyšínek, Zlonice, Šlapanice, Mšené Lázně, Budyně nad Ohří, Mšené Lázně, Ředhošť, Lukov and Horní Kamenice back to Páleč.
