Solenice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Solenice is located near the imposing Orlík Dam, which is 91 metres high near the town. The dam primarily attracts water sports and sailing enthusiasts. Another of Central Bohemia’s natural highlights is Solenická podkova, a horseshoe-shaped meander of the Vltava.

Water and sailing

Yacht Club Solenice is a sailing club on the Orlík Dam. Its practical sailing courses take place on the Orlík Reservoir and start at the base in the Povodí Vltavy Kameny Camp between Podskalí and Trhovky. The club was founded on 19 October 1974 as “Jachetní oddíl Solenice” as part of TJ Solenice.

At Kameny Summer Camp, anyone can register and try sailing on sailing dinghies. Kameny Sailing Camp dates back to a racing training camp held in 1974. The power station inside the Orlík Dam can be visited as part of an excursion by prior reservation.

Nature and educational trail

The Hrby and Velká Leč mountains are located in the area around Solenice. Mount Velký Chlum is also in the vicinity, while Mount Vinice lies in the wider regional surroundings of Solenice.

The Naučná stezka Solenice educational trail passes through Solenice. One section runs along the Vltava below the Orlík Dam. The trail focuses primarily on water management, history and the local natural environment.

History and culture

The historical site “Lety u Písku. Památník holokaustu Romů a Sintů v Čechách” is located in the immediate surroundings of Solenice. The wider regional surroundings include Hrad Zvíkov Castle, Svatá Anna Church and the Zřícenina Valdek ruins.

Local details

The pedestrian bridge in Solenice was scheduled to reopen on 29 July 2026 at 3 p.m. after repairs to a damaged barrier system.
