Senohraby: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Senohraby combines a river landscape, marked trails and traces of history. Its distinctive features lie both in the town itself and in its immediate and wider regional surroundings.

Water and Trails

The Vodnické vycházky consists of 13 stations and is divided into three sections: Ondřejovská, Lensedelská and Senohrabská. As an educational and experiential trail, the Vodnické vycházky follows the right bank of the Mnichovka to the Sázava; from there, visitors can reach Zlenice Castle, also known as Hláska, and try out a newly created viewpoint. A yellow-marked hiking trail connects Senohraby railway station with the ruins of Zlenice Castle.

The traditional Senohraby ferry, operated to this day with a simple pole, remains a tourist attraction. Plovárna Senohraby is located on the right bank of the Sázava at river kilometre 37.6, at the confluence of the Sázava and the Mnichovka, between Senohraby and Čtyřkoly, opposite the Zlenice settlement. On the bank of the Sázava, in the southeastern part of the area, is the seasonal recreation centre Poddubí (U Bořka), which focuses on water tourism connected with the Sázava.

Culture and History

The chapel in Senohraby is dedicated to Saint Adalbert. It was built in 2010 and 2011 from donations by local residents. Práče Fortress lies in the wider regional surroundings of Senohraby. Zlenice Castle was founded after 1300 on a rocky promontory below which the Mnichovický stream flows into the Sázava. Today, only the castle ruins remain; they are commonly called Hláska after the dominant surviving part of the tower.

The ski jump on the northern edge of Hláska Hill was put into operation on 15 January 1933. The complex of villas as well as tramp and non-tramp cottages in Senohraby represents a unique complex of historical value in the Czech lands. Since 1971, the hiking march “Okolo hvězdárny k Ladově chalupě” has been held in Senohraby.

Landscape and Winter

Lipový vrch Hill [Pyšely] is located in the immediate surroundings of Senohraby, as is Vepří Hill [Přestavlky u Čerčan]. Milíř Hill [Velké Popovice-Lojovice] lies in the surroundings of Senohraby. The wider regional surroundings include Žebrák Mountain, the Socha Jana Žižky monument, Loreta Church and Kostel svaté Ludmily Church.

In connection with the Vávrův palouk ski area in Senohraby, there are cross-country ski trails in the cadastral areas of Senohraby and Pětihost; various races are held there, including, for example, a Vasaloppet for amateurs.
