Polepy: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Polepský vodopádek is a small waterfall below a rocky cliff and is registered as a significant landscape feature.

History and culture

The first written mention of Polepy dates back to 1343. The settlement emerged in an area of prehistoric habitation that extends from Neolithic cultures – including the Stroke-ornamented Ware culture and the Moravian Painted Ware culture – through to the Slavic period. Significant traces of the Únětice culture from the Early Bronze Age include finds dated to around 1800 BC. In 1910, archaeologists discovered here the largest burial ground of this culture in the Kolínsko region.

The name Polepy is also associated with a historical practice of catching songbirds with glue. Polepy is also home to the Chapel of Cyril and Methodius. The municipality of Polepy scheduled a Holy Mass there for 5 July 2025 at 10 a.m.

Brewery and beer

At Pivovar Svatý Ján, they brew Mazel, a semi-dark specialty beer with 14%, Fešák, a pale lager with 12%, Povstalec, a pale lager with 12%, and Oliver, a wheat specialty beer with 12%. The brewery also offers contract production of unfiltered beers using traditional methods and ingredients.

Brewery tours are available by prior arrangement. Beer is sold directly there, subject to the current selection.
