Pohoří is part of the Střed Čech Nature Park.

Nature and Landscape

Pohoří is located in Dolní Posázaví, 11 kilometres east of the confluence of the Sázava and Vltava rivers. The southeastern part is bordered by the Hornopožárský Forest, while the southwestern part is bordered by the Halířské zlatonosné pásmo gold-bearing zone.

The Skalsko Nature Monument protects wetland communities with important and specially protected plant and animal species. At the same time, it is a typical landscape section of the Říčany Highlands.

History and Culture

The Halíře Mine Gallery is located in the cadastral area of the municipality of Pohoří. The exploratory mine dates from the mid-20th century and has a unique diamond-shaped profile.

Visitors to the Halíře Mine Gallery can see historic mining equipment and fluorescent minerals, as well as try gold panning. The mine complex is also accessible to visitors with reduced mobility.

Pohoří is also home to a memorial to those who fell in the First World War.

Things to Do

The Kněží hora–Halíře nature trail runs between the settlement of Pohoří-Chotouň and Kněží hora mountain. It is moderately difficult and marked with a blue-and-white square trail symbol, although the markings are insufficient in some places.

Getting There

Pohoří can be reached from Prague by car or bus via Kamenice.

Winter

The Chotouň ski area has two parallel POMA drag lifts with telescopic bars. They are 300 and 280 metres long, respectively, and each has a vertical drop of 50 metres. The youngest skiers can also use a 53-metre-long conveyor belt with a vertical drop of 5 metres.

The gentle slopes in the Chotouň ski area are mainly suitable for beginners and lower-intermediate skiers.
