Počaply: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Počaply lies in a small valley southeast of Březnice. The Mlýnský potok stream flows through the village, while the Počapelský rybník pond covers an area of 10.9 ha. To the north of Počaply rises the elongated Šance hill, reaching 514 m above sea level.

Landscape

The protected zone of the Březnice–Oblouček natural monument encompasses areas in the cadastral territory of Počaply u Březnice. The Vinice mountain lies in the vicinity of Počaply, while Štěrbina mountain is located in the surrounding area. The Rampaška hill is also nearby. Further afield in the region lies Velká Třemošná mountain.

History and Culture

The Šance (Bozeň) hillfort is a two-part fortified site covering an area of approximately 1.6 ha. It lies on a wooded spur about 1 km north of Počaply. Bozeň hillfort can be reached from Myslín or Dobrá Voda u Březnice via a blue-marked hiking trail.

Several restored crosses dating from the mid-19th century are located in the cadastral territory of Počaply. The first written mention of Počaply dates from 1380, when Jodocus de Poczapl was mentioned. The bell of Saint Mark was donated to the municipality of Počaply in 1702 by Jan Josef z Újezda.

The Church of Saint John the Baptist in Počaply dates from the mid-13th century and retains its original spatial layout. Its complex includes an open chapel at the southeastern corner of the cemetery.

In the Surrounding Area

Lety u Písku and the Memorial to the Holocaust of Roma and Sinti in Bohemia are located in the vicinity of Počaply. Further afield in the region are Zvíkov Castle, the ruins of the Radomysl medium-wave radio mast, and the ruins of Valdek Castle.
