Máslovice: Holiday apartments and houses

In Máslovice, the educational trail “Naučná stezka a vyhlídka Choč” begins in the village square in front of the museum and ends at the Vltava ferry. The village is also home to the “Malé máslovické muzeum másla”. It is the only museum of its kind in Central Europe and features an interactive exhibition.

Getting around

A detour to the Choč viewpoint extends the educational trail to 2,700 m. At the viewpoint, visitors can sit on an original bench. From there, a narrow, steeply descending path leads to a waterside trail that goes to the ferry.

The passenger ferry between Libčice nad Vltavou and Dol near Máslovice is operated by the “Výzkumný ústav včelařský”. If the Vltava discharge exceeds 400 m³/s or in strong winds, the Dol–Libčice passenger ferry is closed to the public.

The “Výzkumný ústav včelařský” in Dol near Máslovice offers group excursions by individual arrangement for kindergartens, schools and clubs, as well as for children, students and adults. The tour lasts approximately 45 to 60 minutes.

Culture

Since 2000, the “Malé máslovické muzeum másla” has traditionally displayed a nativity scene made entirely of butter during Advent. Butter churning takes place regularly in Máslovice in spring, usually in April as part of the hiking program “Máslovická šlápota aneb Šlapeme do Máslovic stloukat máslo”, and in autumn in September at the “Posvícenském vinobraní”. The shop of the “Výzkumný ústav včelařský” in Dol sells, among other things, mead and honey chocolate.

Nature

The “Máslovická stráň” nature reserve is located in the territory of the municipality of Máslovice. It protects a number of rock outcrops and fragments of rocky steppe with protected and endangered plant and animal species, as well as meadow and forest habitats.
