History and Local Character

On Müller’s map from 1720, Zádolí is recorded as “Sadoly”; this entry is currently considered the oldest known mention of the settlement. Jaroslav Schaller’s topography recorded 14 houses in Zádolí in 1788. In 1848, František Palacký recorded 19 houses and 162 inhabitants there.

The cultural life includes the amateur theater group “Josef Kajetán Tyl,” founded in Zádolí in 1929. Its members also established a library there with more than 300 volumes. The war memorial was created by local stonemason František Tabulka and unveiled in 1936.

Annual Traditions

In October, Zádolí hosted a traditional neighborhood gathering where children could hollow out and carve pumpkins together with their parents. On December 1, a traditional Christmas tree lighting ceremony with Christmas carols and mulled wine was held.

Hiking and the Surrounding Region

The red-marked Sedlčany–Neveklov hiking trail passes through Zádolí. The wider area around Neveklov is important for hiking tourism. From Neveklov, Benešov, the administrative center, is about half an hour away by bus.
