Cycle route 0018 from Okoř to Družec runs through the northern part of Makotřasy. The Green Route from Okoř via Buštěhrad, Lidice, Makotřasy and Středokluky to Tuchoměřice also passes through Makotřasy.
Culture and History
The Makotřasy fortress was first mentioned in 1379. It had a square layout, a surrounding defensive wall and a cylindrical tower in the courtyard. The remains of the fortress are located in the northwestern part of the municipality.
Koníčkův mlýn is a mill on the eastern edge of Makotřasy on the Lidický Brook. The Makotřasy war memorial to those who fell in the First World War was unveiled on 27 September 1925.
Archaeology
The Na ostrově archaeological site contains a level settlement and a square enclosure. The archaeological site provides evidence of the earliest metallurgy in the territory of the Czech Republic, including copper smelting.
