Lužec Nad Vltavou: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Lužec nad Vltavou stands the protected complex of the Church of St. Giles. It comprises the church, the mortuary chapel and the designated grounds. The church is a single-nave Baroque building; its presbytery contains a Rococo fresco depicting an illusionistic dome.

Culture and History

The mortuary chapel of the Church of St. Giles is designed as a round central building with three curved chapel projections. It has a dome-shaped roof covered with roof tiles and a hexagonal masonry bell tower.

A distinctive historical soundscape is provided by the Lužecké varhany organ. The organ has been preserved in near-original condition and was built in 1783 by Prague organ builder Anton Reiss. It has two manuals and twelve stops and has retained its original tonal character to this day.

Nature and Cycle Paths

The Na Pastvách woodland park by the pond was revitalized in 2022, creating a pleasant environment for residents and visitors.

The EuroVelo 7 long-distance cycle route runs through Lužec nad Vltavou, as does the Lužec–Zelčín cycle path. The pedestrian and cycle bridge between Lužec nad Vltavou and Bukol, opened in 2021, improves access near Bukol to the opposite bank of the Vltava; previously, there was only a ferry connection there. The north–south EuroVelo 7 long-distance cycle route crosses the river via the bridge. The route runs from Sweden to Sicily.

River and Shipping

When raised, the Lužec railway bridge provides a clearance of 7.0 metres for shipping.
