The Tvrz Lošany fortress is a 16.5-metre-high square stone tower, probably dating from the second half of the 14th century, and is currently privately owned.

Culture

The neo-Gothic Church of St George in Lošany was built in 1895–1896 by the architect Ludvík Lábler and consecrated on 16 July 1896. Outside Lošany stand two Baroque wayside shrines: Boží muka Kolovrat dates from the end of the 18th century and lies in the direction of Kolín, while Boží muka P. Marie, from the 18th century, lies in the direction of Polní Voděrady.

History

The Battle of Kolín took place near Lošany in 1757. During this battle, which was fought near Lošany, a field hospital was set up in Lošany. There are also two mass graves of fallen soldiers in the vicinity of the church in Lošany.

The exhibition at the Památník tří odbojů deals with the history of the Mašín family and the history of three Czechoslovak resistance movements.

Landscape

Lošany and Lošánky lie on opposite gentle slopes connected by a pond through which the Pekelský potok stream flows.

Cycling

The 41-kilometre cycling trip “Cyklovýlet za Labskými vyhlídkami a údolím Polepky” follows a route through Lošany.
