Červené Pečky: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Červené Pečky combines a castle, a castle park, sacred buildings and archaeological traces from different periods.

Culture and History

The castle of the Hrubý z Jelení family in Červené Pečky was built in the 17th century on the site of an earlier fortress. On the outskirts of Červené Pečky, the Hrubý family had the Empire-style Chapel of the Holy Cross with a crypt built in 1846. In the Ohrada area, there is a settlement site dating from Roman times; the finds include clay vessels, animal bones and traces of a dwelling.

The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is a Gothic church from the first quarter of the 14th century and was first mentioned as a parish church in 1352. Its complex includes a disused cemetery with a historic enclosure and a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. The Night of Churches is traditionally held in the church.

Castle Park and Events

The castle park is laid out in the English style and contains rare trees that are over 150 years old. Ornamental plants, especially orchids, were cultivated and bred in dozens of greenhouses; the collection was among the most famous in Europe.

Červenopečecká Pecka is a recurring open-air festival featuring folk, tramp and country music in the castle park of Červené Pečky.

Chapels and Religious Artworks

At the southern edge of Červené Pečky on the road to Bojiště stands the Chapel of the Virgin Mary. It was originally a Baroque niche chapel from the 18th century and was rebuilt in 1842. The Boží muka in Červené Pečky is a column-shaped wayside shrine dating from 1757.

The funeral chapel of the family of Baron Josef Hrubý in Červené Pečky is a late Empire-style building from 1845–1846. The statue of Saint Margaret in Červené Pečky is a Baroque sculptural work from the first half of the 18th century. The three-sided niche chapel, a small Baroque sacred building, also dates from the 18th century.

Bridges and Townscape

In the northern part of Červené Pečky, near Pazderna pond, a stone bridge crosses the Nebovidský stream. The stone railway bridge spans the valley of the Chotouchovský stream between the Červené Pečky and Ratboř railway stations and dates from 1899–1900.
